- Competition: UEFA Nations League (A), Quarter-Finals, 1st Leg
- Date: Thursday, 20th March, 2025
- Kickoff: 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
- Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) (Milan)
On Thursday evening, two European giants, Italy and Germany, will face off in the 1st leg of the UEFA Nations League A Quarter-Finals at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (San Siro) in Milan.
Italy had a terrible EURO 2024 as they suffered elimination in the 1/8 Fianbls against Switzerland but were generally really bad through the competition. However, "Gli Azzurri" bounced back with good results in the UEFA Nations League as they easily secured the Quarter-Finals with 13 points in six rounds. But, against Germany, Italy are a big underdog, considering the bookies offer odds around 2.5 odds to secure the next stage of the competition.
Germany are one of the best NTs in the World, but they have been without a major trophy since the 2013/14 season when they won the World Cup in Brazil. They played well in the previous Euro and looked like one of the leading candidates for the title, but they were eliminated in the Quarter-Finals in a close match against Spain. In the UEFA Nations League, Germany continued with good results and easily secured the next stage of the competition, winning 14 points in Group 3 with Netherlands, Hungary, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Italy vs Germany pick: Both teams to score
Italy have been fantastic for this bet, as both teams scored in five out of the six games (83%) in the UEFA Nations League Group phase. At home, they are a team that rarely fails to score goals. If we look further back, "Gli Azzurri" scored in 14 out of the last 15 home games and had a lot of games against outstanding teams like Germany, England, France, and Belgium.
Germany were fantastic offensively in the group stage of the competition, scoring 18 goals in six games - three per game! We strongly believe they are capable of scoring against any team in the World, even away from home. A good thing about this bet is the fact that they haven't had a clean sheet in all three UEFA Nations League road games versus Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Netherlands.
Additionally, seven out of the last eight h2h games finished with both teams scoring - 87.5%. Considering the trend in the previous h2h games and all the above, we firmly believe we will see another exciting match with both teams scoring.

Italy team news
On 14th March, coach Spalletti confirmed the squad for Germany. Federico Dimarco, Giorgio Scalvini, Matteo Darmian, and Gianluca Scamacca aren't called due to injuries. Probably the biggest problem for Spalleti will be Dimarco's absence. Instead of Dimarco, we could see Destiny Udogie on the left side as a replacement.
